Student piccolos are made of plastic, nickel silver, or some combination of the two. Nickel silver piccolos are finished in silver-plating.
Cylindrical bores are more open and freer blowing while conical bores typically offer better intonation.
Silver-plated, closed-hole, plateau keys are common on most piccolos.
